Gentian Roses

Gentian for gentlemen at an upcoming function.

Loved making this order up in this beautiful colour 🙂

Did you know? Interesting Gentian info from the Gentian Research Network a free, not-for-profit, web-based forum for worldwide research on the natural history and evolution of the flowering plant family Gentianaceae (gentians).

  • Gentian violet is a water soluble dye used primarily in medicine to stain bacteria, but also in other histological procedures.  It is not derived from gentians, but got its name since it is pink-violet like some gentians in the genera of Centaurium, Gentiana, and Gentianella.
  • The gentian family contains 87 genera and over 1600 species in the newest classification. It is closely related to other plant families that include coffee, periwinkle, milkweed, madder, and dogbanes
  • Gentians have been used by humans since ancient times as herbal remedies, and taste very bitter.
  •  Their flowers are often colorful (blue, pink, red, yellow), and the true blue gentians (Gentiana) are often grown in rock gardens.

Big Week – New Buttonholes

This is a big week for Freshly Found.
Why?

Because we will be launching some new products at 2 amazing pop-up shops in Durban this weekend.

These buttonholes will be at both the Miss+Meisie Showcase and The i-love pop-up shop.

Mini Strelitzias and Mini Peace Lilies – Both are copies of indigenous flowers, made of recycled materials and an eco-alternative accessory for weddings and functions.

Paperwork for a Press Day

There’s been a whole lot of paper work going on here lately, and we were delighted to provide Freshly Found Lilies for each of the guests at a very special local function this week.

Durban [and the whole country] is buzzing with the imminent launch on Mr Price Online on Monday.

Judging by all the comments on the social network, the Press Day on Tuesday was an amazing function!

The installation by Kim Longhurst looked stunning and I was so glad to see how the lily boutonnieres looked with their bright neon name tags!

Paper Boutonnieres

A boutonnière (pronounced /butɔnjɛr/) is a floral decoration worn by men, typically a single flower or bud…from the French word for buttonhole, which is the British term

I have had some requests for Freshly Found paper boutonnieres and have been keen to try this paper from a vintage annual on movie stars.  I quite like the way they turned out.

Coming soon are some colourful map ones too.
